NAME

LIANQUAN

LOCATION

Above the Adam's apple, in the depression of the upper border of the hyoid bone.
Superior to the laryngeal prominence, located at the superior ridge of the hyoid bone on the anterior midline.
On the anterior midline of the neck, in the depression above the hyoid bone.
Note: run a finger along the underside of the chin towards the throat until it falls into the deep depression just in front of the hyoid bone which is the most superior palpable bony structure at the midline of the throat and runs transversely above the laryngeal prominence.

NEEDLING

Puncture obliquely 0.5 to 1 cun toward the tongue root.
Moxibustion is applicable.
Slanted insertion toward the base of the tongue, 1 to 1.5 cun.
Oblique insertion in the direction of DU-20Baihui, 0.5 to 1.2 cun.

COMMAND FUNCTIONS

Meeting point of the Yang Wei and Chong channels.
Meeting point of the Ren, Liver, Spleen and Heart channels.

Swelling and pain of the subglossal region
Salivation with glossoplegia
Aphasia with stiffness of the tongue by apoplexy

Paralysis of the hypoglossis muscle
Contraction of the root of the tongue with difficulty eating
Protrusion of the tongue
Much spittle
Thirst
Lockjaw
Rebellious Qi
Dyspnea
Chest pain
Vomiting of foam
Sore throat
Lack of flexibility
Diabetes with intense thirst
Closed-type Windstroke with aphasia and tongue stiffness, swelling or pain

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Use moxibustion with caution. According to several modern texts, moxibustion is contraindicated.

NOTES

This point is mostly used for aphasia or slurred speech following Windstroke.
