LOCATION

In the hollow between the intertragic notch posteriorly and the condyloid process of the mandible anteriorly. Locate this point with the mouth open.
In the depression anterior the intertragic notch of the ear, below SI-19 Tinggong.
When the mouth is open, the point lies in a depression anterior to the intertragic notch, directly below SI-19 Tinggong, at the posterior border of the condyloid process of the mandible.

NEEDLING

Transverse insertion posteriorly0.2 to 0.3 cun, or extend to connect with M-HN-9 Taiyang.
Straight insertion with the mouth open, direct the needle slightly backward, 1 to 1.5 cun. Sensation: local distention and soreness.
Puncture perpendicularly 0.5 to 0.7 cun.
Moxibustion is applicable.
