In the depression between the tip of the external malleolus and the Achilles tendon.
Note: locate in the center of the depression.

NEEDLING

Puncture perpendicularly 0.5 to 1 cun.
Moxibustion is applicable.
Straight insertion, either joined to KI-3 Taixi or inclined slightly toward the lateral malleolus, 0.5 to 1 cun. Sensation: local distention and soreness extending toward the little toe.
Slanted insertion, needle directed upward or joined to UB-59 Fuyang for treating goiter. Sensation: local distention and soreness, possibly extending to the heel or toe.
Perpendicular insertion directed superiorly to join with KI-3 Taixi, 1.5 to 2 cun.
