NAME

FENGSHI

LOCATION

At the median line on the lateral aspect of the thigh, 7 cun above the kneecap, or directly below the tip of the middle finger when the arm is extended at the side of the leg.
On the lateral aspect of the thigh, directly below the greater trochanter, 7 cun superior to the popliteal crease.
This point can be located at the tender point approximately 1 cun above the junction of the upper two-thirds and lower third of the line drawn between the greater trochanter and popliteal crease.

NEEDLING

Straight insertion 1.5 to 2.5 cun, causing local distention and soreness possibly extending downward.
Perpendicular or slightly oblique insertion posteriorly 1 to 2 cun.
Oblique insertion, directed proximally or distally 1.5 to 2.5 cun.
Puncture perpendicularly 0.7 to 1.2 cun.
Moxibustion is applicable.

NOTES

This is an important point to treat disorders of Wind. It is essential for treating Wind-Damp Bi. It is recommended for Wind-Heat related itching. and hemiplegia following Windstroke. This is the main point for beriberi.
