LOCATION

On the lateral side of the head, 0.5 cun above the anterior hairline at the corner of the forehead and 4.5 cun lateral to the midline of the head.
At the angle of the forehead, 4.5 cun lateral to the median line of the head at the hairline.
At the angle of the forehead, 4.5 cun lateral to the median line of the head at the coronal suture.
At the corner of the forehead, 4.5 cun lateral to DU-24 Shenting and 0.5 cun within the hairline.
Note: there ar three ways to locate this point: 1. find the meeting
point of a horizontal line drawn 0.5 cun within the
anterior hairline , and a vertical line drawn 0.5 cun posterior
to the hairline of the temple; 2. locate GB-15 Toulinqi which
lies directly above the pupil when the patient is looking directly
forward, and DU-24 Shenting which lies on the midline,
0.5 cun posterior to the anterior hairline. This point
lies on the continuation of a line drawn between these two
points and twice its distance; 3. 0.5 cun superior
to the upper line of the origin of the temporalis muscle, 0.5 cun posterior
to a vertical line drawn directly above M-HN-9 Taiyang.

NEEDLING

Puncture subcutaneously 0.5 to 1 cun.
Transverse insertion front to back, 0.8 to 1.5 cun. Sensation: pain and distention extending outward from the point of insertion.
Transverse insertion 0.5 to 1 cun.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Use moxibustion with caution. Ancient texts prohibit moxibustion.

NOTES

This is a major local point for dizziness due to Dampness and Phlegm in the head. It is also an important point to treat headaches.
