LOCATION

1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the first lumbar vertebra.
Note: locate at the visible highest point of the paraspinal muscles.
1.5 cun lateral to DU-5 Xuanshu, at the level of the lower border of the spinous process of the first lumbar vertebra.

NEEDLING

Oblique or perpendicular-oblique insertion towards the spine, 1 to 1.5 cun.
Caution: deep perpendicular needling carries the risk of injuring the Kidney.
Straight insertion 1 to 1.5 cun. Sensation: distention and soreness as far as the waist.
Puncture perpendicularly 0.5 to 1 cun.
Moxibustion is applicable.

This point regulates the Qi of the Middle and Lower Jiaos. This is one of the most important points for abdominal masses.
