LOCATION

Directly below LIV-13 Zhangmen, level with the umbilicus.
Note: To locate the free end of the eleventh rib, place the entire hand on the upper abdomen,and with gentle finger pressure palpate downwards along the costal margin, until the end of the rib is located just above the level of the umbilicus.
The free end of the eleventh rib usually lies on or near the mid-axillary line which is drawnvertically down from the apex of the Axilla HT-1 Jiquan.
Directly below the free end of the eleventh rib, level with the umbilicus.
Directly below LIV-13 Zhangmen, at the crossing point of the vertical line through the free end of the eleventh rib and a horizontal line through the umbilicus.

NEEDLING

Perpendicular insertion, 0.5 to 1 cun.
Caution: in thin patients, deep needling may penetrate the peritoneal cavity.
Puncture perpendicularly 0.5 to 0.8 cun.
Moxibustion is applicable.
