The drug is the dried or fresh root bark of Actinidia callosa Lindl. var. henryi Maxim. (Family Actinidiaceae), growing along the banks of ravines, in swampy lands in mix-forests or near woods, and distributed in Shaanxi, Gangsu, Henan, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi, Guizhou, Sichuan and Yunnan of China.

Actions

Clear heat and resolve swelling, induce diuresis and alleviate pain.

Indications

Sores and boils, edema caused by damp-heat, acute appendicitis.

Dosage and Administrations

Decoct 30~60 g. Proper dosage is for external application, pounded for applying.
