below ST-4 Dicang, under which can be felt the mental
foramen of the mandible.
1 cun lateral to REN-24 Chengjiang, over
the mental foramen.

NEEDLING

Straight insertion, 0.2 to 0.5 cun. Sensation: local
distention and soreness.
For trigeminal neuralgia, after finding the mental foramen
in the mandible. slanted insertion in a medial downward direction,
0.5 cun. Sensation: electric, numb sensation extending
to the lower lip.
Perendicular-oblique insertion medially and inferiorly into
the mental foramen, 0.3 to 0.5 cun.
Transverse insertion 0.5 to 1.5 cun.
Puncture obliquely 0.5to 1 cun.
