The drug is the dried root or entire plant of Melastoma dodecandrum Lour. (family Melastomaceae), growing on acidic soils in hillsides, scrubs or on grasslands, and distributed in ZhejiangFujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou of China.

Actions
Activate blood, stop bleeding, clear heat and remove toxicity.
Indications
Dysmenorrhea, leucorrhea, sores and boils, abdominal pain after delivery, hematochezia, diarrhea, metrorrhagia, deep-rooted boil.
Dosage and Administrations
Decoct 15~30 g or double the dosage with the fresh, or pounded into juice. Proper dosage is for external application, pounded for applying or decocted for washing.
Cautions
It is contraindicated to pregnant women.
