The drug is the dried rhizome of Polystichum braunii (Spenn.) Fee (family Dryopteridaceae), growing in wet sides under wood of high and cold mountainous areas, and distributed in North China, Northeast China, Northwest China and Sichuan.

The Effect of Bu Lang Er Jue

Property

Astringent, cold; lung and spleen meridians entered.

Actions

Clear heat and remove toxicity, stop bleeding, kill parasites.

Indications

Nose bleeding, flu, mumps, metrorrhagia and metrostaxis, enterobiasis, epidemic encephalitis B, tinea tonsure, head sore.

Dosage and Administrations

Decoct 10~15 g, or made into powder for oral taking. Proper dosage is for external application, pounded for applying.
